The religious music of Johann Christian Bach, the youngest son of J.S. Bach, was mainly composed during his time as the organist of the Cathedral of Milan. This recording offers, for the first time ever, three movements of a mass, including the imposing Gloria, in which the soloists emerge as true opera singers. The orchestra is particularly brilliant and already exhibits all the classical sound characteristics associated with genuine concertante passages.
