Whodini made its debut in 1982 as one of the first hip-hop groups to achieve commercial success out of New York. The group stood out for its distinctive rap style with a touch of R&B. In hindsight, this laid the groundwork for the very popular "New Jack Swing" sound that dominated the charts in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Another milestone for the group was their first single "Magic's Wand." It was the first rap song to have its own music video on MTV. A true milestone!
