Their first album, Mad Weather Good Friends, was the child of endless jams, instrumental pieces that last, crumble, and rebuild over the course of solos. For Broken Glass, while Laura Wamba lends her face to the cover, it's not by chance. Above all, this is an album of songs. This writing work, different from what the musicians are used to, was tackled by all of them. Addiction, emotional dependency, loneliness, love, and escape are addressed in broad enough terms for everyone to relate. The WPTC trademark is still present: we find this richness in the arrangements and influences. Snarky Puppy and its Family Dinner(s) as an unbeatable guiding figure, Supertramp and Pink Floyd, the ambient sounds of Aphex Twin, or the soul of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak in Silk Sonic. Real intros and outros. A dimmed atmosphere is a must, even if a few rays of sunshine sometimes break through the layers of synthesizers. Go see them in concert: they will remind you that they are above all jazz musicians and that, under the threat of losing their membership card, nothing will be played the same way twice.
