Right Or Wrong

Description

After the release of their first single, Backs To The Grind, on the legendary NEAT Records label in 1980, MCA Records signed White Spirit at the height of the NWOBHM scene. The self-titled album was released later in 1980 and achieved great success. A consistent touring schedule allowed the band to build a large loyal following, but lineup changes led Janick Gers to join Ian Gillan and then Iron Maiden, and they brought in an unknown singer named Brian Howe. The revamped White Spirit entered the studio in 1981 to work on their second album with Colin Towns, then keyboardist for Gillan, at the helm of production. The album was never completed. The band split up, and Brian Howe went on to achieve immense platinum success by replacing Paul Rodgers as the singer for Bad Company. These session tapes from the second album were rediscovered in 2020, and after a delicate process, the performances were transferred digitally. Some of the sound quality had deteriorated, so the musical accompaniment was completely replaced by a lineup of exceptional musicians. Brian Howe's vocals on five of the tracks survived well, but the other takes were too degraded, so guest singers stepped in to pay tribute to the late singer who passed away in 2020.
