The result of more than two years of work and a shared dream, Real Thing brings together Michael Collins (Drugdealer) and Natalie Mering (Weyes Blood), long-time collaborators. Recorded across continents, the album marks a return and an evolution, reflecting their deep musical connection. Born in Paris during a session with producer Max Baby, the project blossomed around an idea that Collins had wanted to share with Mering for years. Their collaboration dates back to 2014, and Collins describes it as "a musical family." On the B-side, The News – Drugdealer's first collaboration with Robbie Chemical – explores themes of chaos, change, and connection, in a bright pop style. With Real Thing, Collins continues his journey between classic pop and R&B, while Mering, aka Weyes Blood, continues to assert her transcendent folk-pop, already praised by albums like Titanic Rising and And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow.
