Celebrated for his unique touch, boundless creativity, and revolutionary use of octave playing, Wes Montgomery's inimitable style made him a jazz icon and one of the most influential guitarists of all time.
To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, ‘The Complete Full House Recordings’, his only live recording for the Riverside label, revisits the entirety of one of his most legendary performances at the Tsubo club in Berkeley in June 1962. Accompanied by tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffith and Miles Davis sidemen Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Jimmy Cobb (drums), Lionel Hampton’s former partner delivers stellar interpretations of his own compositions ‘Full House’ and ‘S.O.S.’, alongside reinterpretations of standards by Johnny Mercer ‘Come Rain Or Come Shine’, Mel Tormé ‘Born To Be Blue’, and Dizzy Gillespie ‘Blue’n’Boogie’.
This re-release includes 2 unreleased tracks, a new essay by journalist Bill Milkowski, and new mastering from the analog tapes by Joe Tarantino. Available in 2CD Digisleeve and limited 3LP Gatefold formats.
