Kvitravn

Description

After an intensive period in the studio, the new album Kvitravn marks a clear evolution in Wardruna's unique sound. In a rich musical palette, Wardruna uses a wide selection of traditional and historical instruments such as the Kravik-lyre, the Trossingen-lyre, the Taglharpa, the Sootharp, the Langeleik, the Crwth, the Goat-horn, the Lur, the Bronze-lur, the flute, the Moraharpa. The record also features appearances from a small group of prominent traditional singers, led by Kirsten Bråten Berg, one of the most important guardians of traditional Norwegian singing.
Throughout the eleven songs, Kvitravn addresses Nordic witchcraft, spirits coming from animals, shadows, nature and animism, wisdom and the meanings of certain myths, various Nordic spiritual concepts, and the relationship between the sage and the songs.
