The historical recordings presented here should not only interest fans of early music but also the world of music as a whole. The program ranges from Jacques Champion de Chambonnières to Bach himself, including Henry Purcell, François Couperin, Domenico Scarlatti, and Georg Friedrich Haendel (both born in the same year as J. S. Bach), as well as the classical composers Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. From Bach, we hear among other works the Goldberg Variations (recorded in 1933 in Paris) and the complete Well-Tempered Clavier, recorded in New York and Lakeville (between 1949 and 1954). Finally, on the 10th CD, we discover Wanda Landowska as a pianist on piano.
