Description
The early influence of Liszt and Wagner's music on Felix Draeseke permeates his own compositions from the period, notably his Sonata quasi fantasia in C-sharp minor, a work of sumptuous Wagnerian candor and choreographic lightness. It also marks a significant turning point, moving from a revolutionary style to a more conservative one. As Liszt wrote to Draeseke: "Since Schumann's Sonata in F-sharp minor, I know of no work as important in this genre."
