After "The Legend of Kaspar Hauser" directed by Davide Manulli, it's with "Disco Boy" by Giacomo Abbruzzese (Silver Bear awarded at Berlinale 2023, 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival) that Vitalic once again delves into music for film. Electronic, intense, and navigating between different atmospheres, the original soundtrack is, like the feature film, full of promises and mysteries. "The Swamps," "La Guerre," and "Helicopter" evoke the heavy, dark, and oppressive universe of Thomas Bangalter's work for "Irreversible" directed by Gaspar Noé. "Winter is Coming" and "Lost Time," on the other hand, are filled with melancholy and softness. The bass completely disappears in these tracks. The theme of the film "Disco Boy" is a true electro homage to Disco. Retro-futuristic, the soundtrack of "Disco Boy" oscillates between devastating kicks, a humid atmosphere, and dreaminess. Vitalic imagines unprecedented soundscapes, inviting an initiatory journey and self-discovery.
