In 1993, the discovery and restoration of a handcrafted cello in the village of Moïta in Corsica led to the creation of a festival dedicated to this wonderful instrument, so close to the human voice. The idea quickly emerged to associate this instrumental voice with real voices, as Corsica is so adept at producing. The success of such an initiative logically resulted in the renewal of the experience and thus the creation of the "Rencontres du violoncelle de Moïta," capturing the best moments on record. The special relationship with traditional music in Corsica has guided the production of this album. It serves as a testament to a significant part of the work accomplished by our association over the past twenty years and allows us to rediscover all the reflections of tradition, from the religious song Dio vi salvi Regina or the warrior dance A Moresca di Moita to references to family and intimate life (L’anniversariu di Minetta) or the polyphony of Paghjella and Terzetti.
