Description

Edouard Ferlet is a jazz pianist with refined swing. His album Think Bach, his first foray into the world of the Cantor, was a complete success: from Télérama (FFFF) to Jazz Magazine, everyone was won over by his approach and the quality of his piano (“incredibly controlled and beautiful,” wrote Stéphane Friederich in Pianiste)..
Unclassifiable and unpredictable, as he defines himself, the pianist and composer is used to combining jazz with the most varied forms: classical music, theater, film music, performances and musical readings with authors such as Nancy Huston...
In the continuation of the Think Bach project, Arièle Butaux brought about an unexpected duo on France Musique around baroque music and improvisation, a magical and timeless face-off between Edouard Ferlet and the harpsichordist Violaine Cochard, considered one of the finest ambassadors of her instrument, herself a great lover of Bach, whose album on an exceptional instrument was highly acclaimed. This record is the result of this encounter between struck strings and plucked strings. Side by side, each on their instrument, the two musicians converse on Bach's music, between the original text and improvisations...
“He played with Bach rather than playing Bach, he did not jazzify it, and thus betray it, he sought the jazz in it, through sound as well.” Michel Contat, Télérama
