Vinicio Capossela is an artist as elusive as he is prolific. Very inspired by American literature, from John Fante to the beat generation, by the incandescent swing of Louis Prima, or by the exuberances of Renato Carosone in Italy, he composes for the theater, publishes books, and of course enchants us with each of his albums. On stage, he is capable of anything. He is a stage beast, sometimes rock, sometimes faithful to Mediterranean popular traditions. Thus, we discover a unique artist, with a very vivid musical language, whose performances are inevitably very theatrical, wonderfully constructed around always very specific themes. In his latest album, "Canzoni della Cupa," the songs are inspired by a folkloric, rural, and mythological world, which he has tried to depict by relying on the pre-existing work of popular musicians, on the rich heritage of rural traditions, and on the epic sagas of communities.
