VETO, originally from southern Germany, started in the early 80s as a hard rock band with German lyrics. After a few lineup changes and a shift towards heavy metal in English, they were signed by the company GAMA (label: Scratch). Due to the absence of a drummer, one of the label's two owners personally took on that role: Peter Garattoni. The first album "Veto" was released in 1986 and was well received by fans and the press. They then played with bands such as Saxon, Vengeance, Lee Aaron, Warlock, Sinner, and Grave Digger. The second album "Carthago" was recorded at the Zuckerfabrik studio in Stuttgart and is today one of the absolute benchmarks of the German metal scene. The band is not only endowed with above-average skills, but also managed to convince with captivating songs between hard rock and speed metal. Moreover, the production is clear and powerful, something many major labels did not offer at the time. With the title track "Carthago", VETO also succeeded in creating an epic masterpiece. The announcement of a high-quality reissue of "Carthago" on Golden Core has already caused a stir in the metal scene and generated positive reactions on social media. The remastered CD contains the entire first album "Veto" as a bonus, as well as the rare and exciting drum solo "Thunderstorm" by Peter Garattoni, which can be found as a Veto song on a rare 90s metal compilation. The LP, separately mastered for vinyl, contains two songs from the first album and "Thunderstorm" as a bonus. Both formats include liner notes and numerous rare illustrations.
