Realized by Gérard De Smaele, one of the great specialists of the five-string banjo, this anthology uncovers the old recordings of the great forgotten modernizers of the so-called "classical" banjo, among them: Fred Van Eps or Vess Ossman. It reveals a major aspect of the history of the famous instrument, some aspects of which can still be felt in modern bluegrass. Based on the sources collected by Wayne Adams (Toronto, 1929-2013), here is an unprecedented historical exploration of the repertoire of the popular reference instrument of the North American continent.
