Description

The young Franco-Armenian mezzo-soprano Varduhi Abrahamyan presents her first recording "Rhapsody". This album is a tribute to the music associated with Pauline Viardot (1821-1910), the extraordinary singer, pianist, and composer of the 19th century. The program consists of works by Rossini, Gluck, Brahms, Gouyod, Meyebeer, and Saint-Saëns. She is accompanied in duet by Cecilia Bartoli on "Viver io non potrò" by Rossini, and also presents an Armenian piece by Komitas titled "Krunk", a nod to her heritage.
After "Contrabandista" by Javier Camarena, "Rhapsody" is the new installment in the series of recordings produced by Cecilia Bartoli under the label 'Decca Classics - mentored by Bartoli'.
