The Czech conductor Václav Luks and his Collegium 1704, the year the composer made his entrance onto the European musical scene, are recognized experts in the music of Jan Dimas Zelenka (1679-1745). After his Requiem and Responsoriae, Luks tackles two major compositions by Zelenka on the occasion of the celebrations held at the court of Dresden in honor of Saint Francis Xavier, apostle of the Indies, in 1729. The Missa Divi Xaverii was composed to be heard during the octave on December 3, the Litanies at the end of the octave on December 9.
