Description

With one foot in tradition and their heads in the future, the four musicians of the band Urban Village draw from the rich musical heritage of South African regions. They offer a unique blend that combines Zulu guitars, maskandi, indie-folk, South African choirs, and jazz, all driven by a spiritual essence and incredible energy. They share powerful folk music and songs imbued with pan-African values and the famous "Ubuntu" (common humanity). This is their debut album, recorded live in their hometown and patiently polished in the studio by Frédéric Soulard (Maestro, Limousine, Jeanne Added...). It's a journey through all the colors of Soweto, a dormitory town designed to better monitor those sent there, which has become a laboratory for music where the hopes of an entire people still resonate today.
