« Mount Elephant » is organic psychedelia at its best. These are drifting and pastoral meditations rooted in the "joy and rhythms" of Eastern music and in one of the most precious luxuries of our time: doing things slowly. The third album Upupuyama by Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessio Ferarri and first on Fuzz Club is inspired by traditional Bhutanese music, Thai disco, and Anatolian psych, through lysergic-folk, 70s kosmische, and the stoner-rock that has always traversed the project - dreamy instrumentals always threatening to break down into bursts of blurry riffs. "Mount Elephant was born from a need to listen, to listen to silence," says Ferrari: "Listening to silence while observing flowers, moving hands in the wind, listening to your body while dancing. If in my first album (Upupayama) I had traveled a place back and forth, in the second (The Golden Pond) I had reached one and stopped there, in this third album I set off again, crossing a border and entering a long-dreamed world, a place I could finally 'see with my own eyes.' A group of six musicians live, where things adopt a constantly evolving improvisational approach, on the recordings Ferrari writes, plays, and records everything himself - guitars, keyboards, flute, sitar, erhu, and an arsenal of percussion. The recordings were laid down over time in Ferrari's studio, in a small mountain village overlooking the city of Parma, before being mixed by Chris Smith at Kluster Sounds (Kikagaku Moyo, Wax Machine).
