The new album by German rapper Umse, produced by US beatmaker legend Nottz: classic, timeless boom bap & true school rap in transatlantic collaboration. The German-American friendship with US producer legend Nottz (Busta Rhymes, Sean Price, Talib Kweli, Mac Miller, and many more) gives Umse's flow wings, and Nottz's classic trademark sample beats bring out the best in the Rhenish rap artist. "UNO" is a highlight for every true HipHop fan and a perfect record – old school, if you will. A statement for this eternally valid sound, for the craft of rap, and a clear artistic stance. Nottz's productions from Norfolk, Virginia, are a crossroads for trueschool bangers and sophisticated mainstream instrumentals, with M.O.P., Busta Rhymes, Krumbsnatcha, Kanye West, The Game, and many other US acts of the last 20 years in his portfolio. His distinctive soul samples and rough drums have helped shape the sound that led today's Top 20 rapper Umse to the mic in the first place. Umse, real name Christoph Umbeck, has released six albums since 2008, almost all of them on the international tastemaker label Jakarta Records, and mostly produced by childhood friend and tag-team partner Deckah until now. For Umse, this collaboration is a dream come true: he can bring his sound concept even closer to the original. Umse and Nottz on "Uno" sound like two old acquaintances, so closely do the raps and beats stick together. One thinks of Murs and 9th Wonder, of Guru and Premier. They simply share the same history. The feeling of being very close to the original gives Umse a completely new self-confidence and trust in his own art. A vibe is created and remains until the end: beats bang, lines hit, heads nod. Two singles including videos will also be released with the album, starting with the DIY anthem "Tim Taylor" on March 6th. The video (shot in Norfolk, Virginia) and all the artwork come from Umse's friend, companion, and HipHop's favorite photographer Robert Winter (Illa J, Megaloh, Hi-Hat Club, JUICE Magazine, and many more).
