Before their iconic trilogy (Bergtatt, Kveldssanger, Nattens Madrigal), Ulver debuted with the Vargnatt demo in 1993, already recognized for its innovative folk black metal and complex compositions. Led by Kristoffer "Garm" Rygg on vocals, the line-up included Carl-Michael Eide (drums) and Robin "Mean" Malmberg (bass), creating a wild yet refined sound, blending acoustic guitars and melodic arrangements. This black vinyl reissue includes audio restored from the original DAT, as well as a bonus live track, captured at Bootleg TV in Oslo the same year from the original U-matic. Vargnatt remains a fascinating testament to Ulver's beginnings, already foreshadowing the experimental and electronic evolution that would make them famous.
