When the Swedish guitarist Ulf Wakenius proposed the idea of recording a tribute to Paul McCartney, Siggi Loch, head of the ACT label, was very skeptical. After all, it’s not as if there was a shortage of versions of Beatles songs. However, it quickly became clear that not only was Wakenius truly enthusiastic about this project, but he had also assembled the dream team to make it happen: Lars Danielsson and Magnus Öström, drummer of the band E.S.T, were already on board, and it was especially this that convinced Siggi Loch. He insists, however, that the choice of pieces reflects lesser-known aspects of McCartney, a thought that brings him back to his own memories: he witnessed the early days of the Beatles, having attended one of their concerts in 1962.
