Tyr, the band from the Faroe Islands, firmly positions itself as the avant-garde of Scandinavian metal with the new album “Hel.” This eighth release is packed with progressive melodies between folk and metal that will undoubtedly resonate with anyone who has followed the band’s evolution over the past two decades. Renowned for their prolific creativity, the members of Tyr released five full-length records in the space of seven years. However, six years will have passed between the release of “Valkyria” and “Hel.” During this period, the band toured extensively, taking their latest album around the world on stages in many countries, with Children Of Bodom as support on the North American continent. Conceptually, the album is inspired by mythology, personal experiences, and major international events... thus offering a multifaceted experience depending on the listener’s interpretation. Hel was entirely worked on by Thomsen and Joensen at the latter’s studio in Soldarfjorour as well as at Jacob Hansen’s Danish studio.
