Tropical Jazz Trio

Description

For four decades, our musical journeys led us down many paths that sometimes crossed, sometimes diverged, reuniting us for the improbable Night of Jazz or during a confidential recording session. In recent years, we had taken to performing as a trio here and there, piano, double bass, and percussion, in search of the African roots of the music we love. We moved from one stage to another with the carefree lightness of our beginnings, for the simple pleasure of music, until our encounter with the young label French Paradox led us into a recording studio to produce an album. Faced with our own work for three days, we then endeavored to find its meaning, working on the musical material, experimenting with new ideas, and focusing on resolving the questions related to the unusual instrumentation of our trio. We remained in doubt and questioning until we listened to the final master, which surprised all three of us. Unbeknownst to us, over the years we had built a musical story revealed by the mirror of the tape recorder. The Tropical Jazz Trio was born.
