In the spotlight here are the joyful family flavors of Trio Ternura and a masterclass of samba-funk from Eliana Pittman. First, we have the uptempo funk-soul sounds of "Vou Morar No Teu Sorriso," courtesy of the brother group Trio Ternura – taken from their self-titled LP from 1971. Composed of sisters Jussara, Jurema, and their brother Robson, this track is one of our true favorites and a regular feature in our DJ sets. A tight drumbeat, breaks, and percussion lay the groundwork for these jubilant voices, funk-fueled organs, punchy brass, and groovy bass that transport you to sandier shores. On the B-side, a slice of dancefloor samba-funk-MPB from Eliana Pittman with "Quem Vai Querer." Originally released in 1977 on RCA, the rolling samba groove, layered percussion, and Eliana's charming lead vocals transform into a carnival-flavored chorus that lifts even the lowest spirits.
