The Trio Eos, founded in 2013 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, presents rare works for strings, including string trios by Jewish composers murdered by the Nazis: Gideon Klein’s String Trio is his last composition before his death in Auschwitz. By contrast, Josef Koffler’s Trio op. 10 was composed in 1928, the year he was appointed professor of harmony and atonal composition in Lviv.
