En cavale

Description

'En cavale' is a wandering project: the story of a fleeting encounter that could not remain so. Six musician-singers come together to create an original repertoire of world songs and original compositions, and they did not want to part ways. - - - - - 'En cavale' was born in the Chartreuse massif, where TRAM des Balkans has stopped for several seasons for a long-term artistic residency. Inspired by certain heritage sites, they invited Mélissa Zantman for an acoustic creation intended for two unique performances. A musical and human love at first sight. Mélissa shares with TRAM the joyful taste for singing, for giving on stage with an open heart, for vibrating freely with the means at hand: instruments and voices. Venturing into contrasting areas with spontaneity and lightness has become their playground. - - In the simplicity of this beautiful encounter, the pleasure continued last summer with a 'high-altitude tour' where, accompanied by donkeys, they traveled together through the Chartreuse massif, giving a concert every evening. In the heart of nature as well as in the village, the audience was present and happy to be so. - - Following this adventure, the musicians decided to deepen the repertoire by bringing it to the stage, dressing it with some lights and scenic elements. The acoustic spirit that initially inspired them remains essential. They favor a direct sound that calls for a particular presence among them, heightening the listener's sensitivity and plunging into an eloquent intimacy. At times, there are some improvised sound deluges, followed by wild songs, giving way to sweet nostalgic laments... - - Yes, because in this cavalier repertoire, the voices blend in a torrent of traveling languages: Bulgarian, Finnish, Italian, Georgian, Hungarian, Hebrew... Mélissa, a playful and radiant singer, offers TRAM a new listening experience and an in-depth vocal work, combining power and finesse. Some harmonic turns are quite tight, so TRAM fastens its seatbelt and speeds ahead while maintaining its carefree energy, establishing a festive and organic complicity. The time of this concert shared with the audience is then of incredible intensity! - - The original sound of certain instruments like the cistre (a type of 10-string guitar), the kaval (a typical Balkan flute), and the jew's harp naturally complements the violin, accordions, clarinet, double bass, and percussion. The polyphonies carried by the six voices open the harmonic palette of the group, always in joy and emotion, of singing together. - - And as such an epic journey seeks to leave a small mark on its path, the album En cavale will be released in the fall of 2023! So let’s get going, the stroll is just beginning.
