Acid Jazz Records continues its reissue policy of the Albarika Store catalog, the legendary label that defined the sound of Benin and influenced the entire West African region and beyond. Recorded and released in 1974, "Le Sato" is one of the first releases from the Albarika label and is also one of the most inspired. The Sato is the term that refers to the traditional rhythms played during voodoo rituals and ceremonies in Benin.
The interpretation of the Sato is reserved for these sacred rites, which evoke the spirit of the dead, and which can sometimes last several whole days in front of a large audience. The percussionists create unique, layered polyrhythms, like an invitation to dance and trance.
