From his first album in 1968 until his death in 1997, TVZ only released 9 studio albums. The "cursed musician," discovered in a Houston bar by Mickey Newbury and quickly signed to the label, recorded a series of tracks in Texas in the 90s with admirers including Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Jerry Jeff Walker, Freddy Fender, and Doug Sahm.
