Total Hell

By some cosmic miracle, only one Total Hell appears when searching for the band's name on Discogs. This is the band responsible for the five explosive heavy metal-sounding tracks on this EP. Active for about two years and exported from New Orleans' very fertile metal and punk scene, Total Hell consists of DD Deth (Drew Owen of Sick Thoughts, Trampoline Team) on drums and vocals, Henry Hell (John Henry of Static Static, Heavy Lids) on bass and vocals, and guitarists Jason 'Panzer' Craft (Persuaders, Tirefire) and Michael Maniac (Michael He-man of Trampoline Team). The four tracks, "Desecrate," "Clones From Hell," "Violator," and "Disfigured," are melodic monstrosities that strike with uninterrupted power, yet remain economical in their execution. These tracks were recorded live at home on a Tascam 8-track recorder by Michael He-Man, and the process was a nightmare. The original recording failed them in early 2020, and they had to redo everything. The intros and interludes were done at the last minute with the cheapest MIDI keyboard online. Goner Records was speechless. One can momentarily get lost in the cavernous drums that open the first track, but very quickly, the wall of circular saw riffs crushes us into a stain on the bathroom floor. This is punk mating with metal... Christmas came early for fans of Anti-Cimex, Celtic Frost, Discharge, Motörhead, Blitz, Midnight, Venom, Broken Bones, and... you get the picture.
