Singing stories woven with love, loss, hope, and femininity, Toria Wooff’s self-titled debut album offers an antidote to our demons; a contemporary touch to English-language folk that whispers a word of wisdom: never judge a book by its cover. While drawing inspiration from the contemporary folk souls of Jake Xerxes Fussell or Richard Dawson, each track transcends time, deeply rooted in the lyrical narratives of the seventies of Led Zeppelin, Fairport Convention and Townes Van Zandt - treasures that Toria first discovered in her father’s record collection. Recorded with producer and sound engineer James Wyatt, in his Sloe Flower studio in Chester - the organ having been recorded in Wales, coincidentally where Robert Plant wrote IV - the objective was simple: to show restraint.
