Originally released as a hand-burned CD on New Year's Eve 2004, Last Light captures Tor Lundvall's hushed vocal art at its most ghostly and grey, stripped bare like branches preparing for winter. Initially conceived as “a piano album with little electronics”, Lundvall’s palette gradually expanded, incorporating synthesizers, samples, bass, metronomes, and his spectral signature voice. The music moves in whispered waves, somewhere between eulogy, drift, and devotion. Synths chime like bells; percussions drag and tremble, icy and isolated; basses trace a tiptoeing march – it’s a mode that is at once stark and seductive, lulling the listener into its landscapes of ever-deepening twilight.
