Ton Koopman is one of the great masters of our time in the field of baroque music. Harpsichordist, organist, conductor, founder of the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and a baroque music festival in the Périgord Vert, giving concerts year-round around the world, he is part of the generation, along with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and John Eliot Gardiner, that has managed to give a new impetus to baroque music through a historically informed interpretation, closely aligned with the spirit in which these works were born. On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Erato is publishing for the first time a selection of his best recordings of baroque music. This 10CD box set provides a remarkable overview of his discographic legacy: featuring Bach's Sonatas for Viola da Gamba with Jordi Savall, the Violin Concertos by the same composer with Monica Huggett, the second Book of the Well-Tempered Clavier... But also works by Telemann, Frescobaldi, Buxtehude, Handel... His wife, the harpsichordist Tini Mathot, joins him in works by Soler and WF Bach.
