Silence. Three notes emerge from a music box. Tom Bird immediately sweeps us away with his melancholic yet cheerful pen. To the rhythm of his guitar, he makes us savor his words at the end of the strings, captivating the crowd with his song to sincerely tell us his story. Or rather, the one he would have liked to live. He nourishes this sincerity with passion and human warmth. It’s this musical thrill that he conveys both on stage and on record. And while he has a universe all his own, this quirky bird does not hide his influences. His meticulous work on melodies brings to mind folk artists like Bob Dylan and Damien Rice. We also find some slam poetry, reminiscent of a certain Ben Mazué. Ten years of writing, but still many stories to tell. The next chapter will come in spring 2018 with the release of his next album. In the meantime, open your eyes… and listen.
