The Tokyo Paris Express began its journey in France, in Paris, in 2015. More than just a jazz quintet, it is a cohesive entity, a rhythm section with a smooth yet solid groove, brilliant soloists... in short, a true band. The repertoire, made up of original compositions and nods to Steps Ahead, Joe Hisaishi, or The Cure, is a vast playground where hypnotic grooves, soul-jazz bass lines tinged with a very old school Seventies patina, translucent melodies, Japanese meditations, and incandescent improvisations intertwine and sometimes clash. ARGIAN is a Basque word that means "in the light." It illustrates the story of five musicians confined to the four corners of the globe who decided to continue together, at all costs, their sonic journey towards a brighter world, where beauty, peace, and harmony would not be utopias but foundational values.
