Goon

Description

A piano. A voice. A few seconds are enough to be swept up by the raw force of Tobias Jesso Jr.’s songs. A first track widely acclaimed in 2013, followed by a second crowned “Best New Track” by the influential Pitchfork in 2014, the Canadian quickly established himself as a new revelation, and his debut album as one of the most anticipated albums of 2015. Goon, recorded between Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville and Vancouver, is a striking testament to Tobias Jesso Jr.’s talent, as he sings about love, its joys and its wounds like no one else, never falling into pastiche or clichés. These songs are memories, moments that evoke different facets of a relationship. A personal testimony with universal reach. Captivated by the quality of the songwriting, prestigious names such as Jr White of Girls, Pat Carney of the Black Keys, and Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Haim, Sky Ferreira) took part in the production of this debut album, determined to convey the emotion and honesty of the compositions without altering their simplicity. Heir to icons such as John Lennon or Elton John, Tobias Jesso Jr. makes an immediate mark with a debut album that sounds above all honest, rich in gentle melodies and sincere lyrics. One of the most anticipated albums of the year is finally here!
