TWO/VINYLE BLEU COBALT

Description

Brothers Adrian and Paul Gurvitz were responsible for some of the most progressive hard rock sounds of the late 60s and 70s, first in The Gun, and then with Cream's drummer, Ginger Baker, in The Baker Gurvitz Army. However, between these two bands, there was perhaps the best of the group; Three Man Army released three albums from 1971 to 1974 that would fit perfectly in your heavy British rock collection, alongside, say, the Truth and Beck-Ola albums by Cactus and Jeff Beck. Two from 1974 was, confusingly, their third album, and it can be said without risk that they saved their best for last. "Polecat Woman" opens the record with a Led Zep-style boogie stomp, "Today" is very much in the Peter Green vein, and "Flying" sounds almost like a harder version of Badfinger. But the highlight is perhaps "I Can't Make the Blind See," which, with its orchestration and soulful vocals, sounds almost like a powerful ballad performed by Traffic.
