Jesus Shot Me Down

Description

Between Folk and Blues Roots, THOMAS SCHOEFFLER JR’s music comes straight out of the film O’Brother. Harmonica, guitar slung over his shoulder, effective yodeling, he takes us into a wide-open music with a woody flavor and Hillbilly blues accents. This guy did not grow up east of the United States, but rather on the other side of the Alsatian Appalachian chain. THOMAS SCHOEFFLER JR has forged his musical culture by way of the South: Mississippi Fred, Mc Dowell, Hank Williams, or even Scott H Biram. Add the Stanley Brother, Nina Simone, Jacques Brel and Public enemy: you get a sense of our man’s eclecticism. The album “Jesus Shot Me Down” was released on 23/03/2015. This collection of 12 songs synthesizes the musical references of the Strasbourg native, alternating between light ballads and wild chases, to the rhythm of his harmonica. “I dig a hole” is a real hit for headbangers, fans of one man band, for whom the “s” in blues is more synonymous with sweat than with solos; the country-tinged ballads remind us that here, country means Johnny Cash or Jimmie Rodgers.
