Works

Description

2015 is a beautiful year for Jean-Charles Gandrille. The Auvers-sur-Oise Festival has made him its guest composer. It must be said that he knows this city dear to Impressionist painters well: he is the holder of the organ at the Notre Dame Church. An astonishing story is that of this violin concerto: the first part, a poem for violin subtitled "Beyond, towards the azure...", conceived in 2004, clearly looks towards the music and poetics of Henri Dutilleux. Gandrille met Dutilleux and showed him his score. Then Marcel Khalifé, an admirable oud player and Lebanese singer, a member of the artistic direction of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, proposed to perform the work in Doha in 2012. And here is an amazing musical adventure successfully carried out and captured for the Paraty label.
