Thomas de Pourquery is an extravagant showman with a flamboyant aura. The one who likes to define himself as a male diva releases LET THE MONSTER FALL, an electro-pop album that reflects his image: charismatic, sunny, and thunderous. Accompanied by YODELICE (who produces the album) and some of his longtime friends, the artist draws inspiration from his idols – THE FLAMING LIPS, FUTURE ISLANDS, and BON IVER – and reveals very intimate lyrics sometimes written in his adolescence. “I always knew I would be a singer,” he declares. For the one who paid tribute to SUN RA with his wacky band SUPERSONIC is known in a world quite different from that of pop: jazz.
A virtuoso of the saxophone, which he learned as a self-taught musician, he already has more than twenty years of career in music and was even named the best French musician at the VICTOIRES DU JAZZ in 2022. Thomas de Pourquery admits, however, that he long hid behind his instrument. Before this album, he accumulated experiences, formed tons of bands (jazz, pop, rock…) and quirky projects (like a punk brass band) of which he was always the leader and played memorable roles in French art films. He has also lent his talent to pop stars like METRONOMY and CLARA LUCIANI… until he finally became one himself.
