Bobby Oroza was born and raised in Helsinki in an artistic family, exposed to a wide range of musical genres from a young age. Family gatherings were often centered around his Bolivian grandfather, who played Latin/Cuban classics on the guitar, or around his parents' record collection, rich in Motown artists, jazz, blues, gospel, doo-wop, but also featuring Brazilian, African, North American, South American folk songs, as well as Nuyorican salsa albums. Before finishing high school, Bobby decided to get closer to the rhythmic source that most influences his work and traveled to Santiago de Cuba. There, he intensely studied percussion and singing for months. Back in Europe, he prepared to release his first album, This Love, on the Big Crown label. To support his artistic vision, he teamed up with the kings of soul in Finland, the production group & backing band of Timmion Records aka Cold Diamond & Mink (Nicole Willis, Myron & E…), composed of Jukka Sarapää, Sami Kantelinen, and guitarist/composer Seppo Salmi. Bobby's smoky tenor voice floats over a lo-fi orchestration for a result that can melt any heart. The song Your Love Is Too Cold is a stomp that combines the early Motown soul percussion with a guitar riff straight out of a James Bond soundtrack. Bobby delights northern soul lovers with Lonely Girl and Falling In Love, and transports us to the best of 70s jazz-funk on Keep On Believing. The young man thrives in this bed of dark and intimate sensuality, particularly felt on tracks like Alone Again, Down On My Knees, and Deja Vu.
