THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL

Description

Northern soul is once again at the heart of the news, as a new generation discovers this cult of the dancefloors, the most timeless of all. For four decades, Ace Records has been a haven for this music and, drawing on that experience, we are offering our very first compilation of classics bringing together some of the scene’s biggest hits. All on a single LP. The recordings featured on this album have been tested and approved, often in the fiery forge of the scene’s early days, when discoveries followed one another at a brisk pace and only the strongest survived. These ones survived. We therefore have 14 tracks that filled the dancefloors of Wigan, Blackpool, Cleethorpes, London’s 100 Club and many other legendary venues. From West Coast Mirwood classics and Jackie Lee, Bobby Garrett, Mary Love and Danny Monday’s Kent/Modern label, to Chicago soul from Darrow Fletcher, through to the ultra-rare recordings of Rita & The Tiaras and Little Ann, now essential to the scene. -This album is for beginners, for those who want to understand what is going on around this album, or for the more experienced who simply want to relive exceptional memories.
