Description

The guitarist Thibaut Garcia, Revelation at the Victoires de la musique classique in 2019, has designed Aranjuez, his new album, as a mirror, pairing each concerto with its solo reflection. The Concierto de Aranjuez, a universal masterpiece by Rodrigo, was written for the brilliant guitarist composer Regino Sainz de la Maza, who is honored here with four of his pieces inspired by Spanish popular music. A subtle thread connects the works and the authors presented in this program. The two orchestral works have a modern perspective, sometimes brilliant, sometimes melancholic, on the sumptuous past of the two main Bourbon courts: the Spanish one at the Palacio Real de Aranjuez and the French one at Versailles (Robert de Visée). The young guitarist is beautifully accompanied by the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse under the direction of Ben Glassberg. In this new album, I wanted the meeting of the most famous concerto in the guitar repertoire and an inexplicably forgotten gem, Musique de cour by Alexandre Tansman. Thibaut Garcia
