With 36 international awards – making him the most awarded guitarist to date – the talented Thibault Cauvin unveils his latest album. For this new opus, soberly titled “Films”, the artist invites us to (re)discover the most beautiful themes from some of cinema’s great masterpieces in a personal, brilliant, and eclectic selection.
“Cinema has always been a part of me. Now, finally, I’m diving into it, in my own way, with my guitar,” says the guitarist. With incredible dexterity, Thibault Cauvin indeed appropriates classic and recent cinematic masterpieces, breathing new life into them through increasingly virtuosic interpretations. Thibault Cauvin’s selection perfectly reflects his intention: to evoke strong emotions, where warm memories and beautiful discoveries reach the listener with each track.
This new album features no less than 18 interpretations of iconic themes. For the opening track, Thibault Cauvin gives us a glimpse into a very personal version of the 12M stream hit in France, "Mystery of Love" (from the famous film "Call Me By Your Name"), where various layers and guitar loops redefine the original work. From the poetic "The Name of Life" (main theme from "Spirited Away") to the well-known "City of Stars" ("La La Land") and the magnificent "Yumeji’s Theme" ("In the Mood for Love"), Thibault Cauvin presents a wide, rich, and intimate repertoire of works that have marked his life at different times and for different reasons.
What's more, the guitarist has surrounded himself with distinguished guests to accompany him on this worldwide tour of the silver screen, namely the rising young actress Nadia Tereszkiewicz for "La Chanson d’Hélène" (from the cult film "Les Choses de la Vie"), as well as the brilliant trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary in "Générique" ("Ascenseur pour l’échafaud") and "Cockeye’s Song" ("Once Upon a Time in America").
