While many progressive and technical death metal bands are content to follow the same path and stick to a tried-and-true sound, The Zenith Passage, with their second full-length album, ventures into new and exciting territory. From start to finish, "Datalysium" is driven by imagination and performed by artists who master their instruments perfectly, creating something that stands out while retaining what made them such a fascinating proposition in the first place. When asked to describe the album, the band does so very clearly: "Imagine Necrophagist and Meshuggah are married, Cynic and Extol are married, and years later, they go to a swinger party to spice up their relationships, which has become a habit. From there, they all had a child together, whose biological father no one knows, but it's cool because they are co-parents. This child grows up idolizing David Lynch, Ridley Scott, and film noir. He then goes to film school for a few years but drops out because he prefers playing the synth, and ends up broke and homeless. So, 'Datalysium' would be that child."
