On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Wild Magnolias' first album, Decca Records France presents a limited edition triple vinyl box set bringing together all of the band's Barclay sessions. It includes the two original albums, 4 bonus tracks, and 2 unreleased remixes, as well as a booklet with detailed notes from producer Philippe Rault and numerous photographs.
In 1973, at the initiative of producer Philippe Rault, then working for the Barclay label, the Wild Magnolias became the first Black Indians to record a studio album. The completely successful experience of this first opus was repeated in 1975 with "They Call Us Wild." The music delivered by the band is a concentration of incandescent funk, where the powerful and guttural voice of leader Bo Dollis, backed by an irresistible rhythm section—Willie Tee and the New Orleans Project—grabs you by the gut and irresistibly invites you to dance. Five decades later, these two Wild Magnolias albums remain among the most vibrant testimonies to the soul of New Orleans. Without a shadow of a doubt, "Handa Wanda" and all these anthems carrying eternal vibrations resonate forever in the New Orleans sky.
