Description

The music of the Soft Moon was not originally intended for an audience. Luis Vasquez (Oakland native) began this project with the sole aim of getting to know himself better. He holed himself up in his apartment and recorded continuously, letting himself be guided by his instinct and his memory, two false twins that led him to darkness, claustrophobia and fear: a musical desert punctuated by Motorik, worn out by post-punk and oozing with the gloom of darkwave. This second album is sharper, more cutting, more vibrant. Because unlike the first eponymous album, recorded solo and in isolation, Zeros was born on the road, as Soft Moon became a live band and experimented with visual embellishments. After 6 months of solo work, Vasquez teamed up with producer and sound engineer Monte Vallier in his San Francisco studio, where he was able to refine his desire for primitive sound and post-apocalyptic atmospheres. The result is a total immersion, a hypnotic trance, under the pale light of a moon not so soft.
