A playlist without borders

Description

"A Playlist without Borders" is the opportunity to once again meet the star cellist Yo Yo Ma and the musician-friends from all backgrounds who accompany him, within the Silk Road Ensemble. He founded his group of musicians in 1998, drawing inspiration from the artistic richness that accompanied the trade of the historic Silk Road, between Europe and China. The musicians that make it up are of all nationalities and come from Syria, India, China, Iran, Korea, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. The repertoire of this album offers us the chance to discover original Eastern music, written especially for Yo Yo Ma's initiative, and authored by David Bruce, Vijay Iyer, Wu Tong, Ko Umezaki. We also notice the Korean percussionist Dong-Won Kim. In the United States, this recording, like its predecessors, is a best-seller with astonishing scores, and concerts sell out in 2 weeks, a true ethno-musical phenomenon! The DVD features a Live concert from the Tanglewood Festival (Ozawa Hall) in Lenox (Massachusetts) in June 2012.
