Famous for composing one of the greatest marches in the world, Alte Kameraden (available on volume 1 of this series, reference 8.574317), Carl Teike wrote a considerable body of work that enriched the repertoire of German concert marches. His compositions give this musical genre diversity and charisma, combining thematic invention with clarity of structure and richness of timbre. For the 43rd anniversary of his death, a march from 1918 was unearthed and renamed Neue Kameraden, while Sorgenbrecher is Teike's tribute to his contemporary, the composer Paul Lincke, of whom he was very proud.
