At The Roadhouse

Description

The Australian independent folk rock band The Paper Kites is releasing their highly anticipated sixth album - At The Roadhouse. The song and production began when the band created a roadhouse in rural Australia, undertaking an impromptu month-long residency in the small Victorian town of Campbells Creek while working on their sixth album. The atmosphere of the live performance is recreated with pedal steel and crooning vocals and harmonies. The lyrics of the song evoke a romance as vibrant as a blue flame. "We've been talking about it for years," explains Sam Bentley, "We were drawn to the idea of settling in a town somewhere and playing the evenings as the house band. The Roadhouse became that place for us." Expanding their lineup, the five members of The Paper Kites recruited three additional musicians to form their roadhouse band, including multi-instrumentalist Matt Dixon - who weeps on the track - as well as Hannah Cameron and Chris Panousakis.
